Meet Sweet Capone
Capone and his litter-mate, Gotti-Boy had a “ruff” start to their lives. Both were very sick and living with somebody who couldn’t afford to care for them. A friend of the family stepped in and and immediately took them to Golf-Mil Veterinary Hospital for medical attention. It turned out that both boys had parvo … which is a horrible disease that puppies don’t usually survive from. Golf-Mil treated them both then asked us if we could help find them their forever homes. Gotti-Boy coasted through his parvo treatment, but it was a lot harder on Capone. He almost didn’t survive. After a long struggle of fighting for his life, he pulled through.
As Capone grew, it became evident that he was having some pain in his hips. At first we thought that maybe he was just having growing pains, but the pain did not subside so we took him in for x-rays which revealed that he was in very bad shape and had hip dysplasia...in both hips. He would need surgery to fix the problem.
Capone had a femoral head osteotomy on both hips in October. His incisions are completely healed, but his recovery will still take some time as he rebuilds his muscle mass and regains strength in his hind legs again.
He is getting around well, and is as happy as can be. We’d love to find him his forever home (or a foster home) so that he can have some extra TLC while he finishes his recovery. The doctors tell us that he will be able to get around like a normal dog once he is fully recovered. There can be plenty of long walks and hanging out in the park in his future with his forever person. (He really looks forward to those days!)
Capone is extremely respectful to other dogs, and will be a great addition to a family who already has pets or he’d also be a great first dog for someone. He’s really a pretty special guy and deserves to be spoiled for the rest of his life.
He is neutered, micro-chipped and current on his shots. For more information or to make an appointment to meet Capone, please
